IQTS Entry Requirements
The International Qualified Teacher Status (iQTS) programme is designed to ensure that aspiring teachers meet high standards of subject knowledge and teaching skills.This programme provides comprehensive support and clear guidelines, helping candidates achieve the necessary qualifications to excel in primary or secondary education. Whether focused on teaching young children or in a particular subject area for older students, iQTS offers a structured path to becoming a highly qualified and effective teacher.
For Primary (5-11 years)
- Equivalent to GCSE grade C/4 in Mathematics and Science.
- An undergraduate degree (typically 2:2 or higher), but all applications are considered based on course demands.
- No specific subject requirement for the degree:
For Secondary (11-16 years):
- Equivalent to GCSE grade C/4 in Mathematics.
- An undergraduate degree (typically 2:2 or higher), but all applications are considered based on course demands.
- Strong knowledge and skills in the chosen subject area, which may come from degree studies or other qualifications and experience.
Applicants must meet all IQTS Teachers’ Standards, including those related to subject knowledge. Full support is provided to ensure clarity on these standards.
